About Caite
Caite is a true third-culture kid. Born in the US, her nationality is American but travelled the world with her family growing up. She spent the majority of her life in Europe and also lived in Doha, Qatar for five years.
After graduating from St. John’s International School of Brussels in Waterloo, Belgium with her International Baccalaureate Diploma she repatriated to the US for college. Caite attended Skidmore College in Upstate New York and received a Bachelor’s Degree of Art in Mathematics double majoring in Studio Art (concentration in Jewelry and Metalsmithing with a secondary emphasis in Sculpture). She was a starting player, two-time MVP, and captain, on the Skidmore Varsity NCAA Volleyball team and received national recognition as an AVCA All-American Athlete after previously playing for the National Women’s Dames 1 Flemish Club team in Belgium.
Caite graduated from Skidmore College in 2019 and pursued her jewelry and metalsmithing passion in New York City where she worked as a model-maker for the Jewelry Design and Innovation Workshop at Tiffany & Co. She worked on the 2021 and 2022 jewelry collections with a specific focus on the Tiffany True Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring Collection.
Caite completed the Design Discovery program at Harvard GSD summer of 2018, where she was introduced to architecture in a brief but intensive 6-week program. Caite loved jewelry because it was a convergence of Art and Mathematics and discovered that her interests were the perfect springboard into the realm of architecture. Caite graduated with her Master in Architecture (M.Arch 3.5) in May of 2022 from the Georgia Institute of Technology as the recipient of the T. Gordon Little Fellowship. During her time there, she was Co-Founder of the sustainable studio ECO, Graduate Ambassador, Graduate Teaching Assistant, SOA Office Representative, and spent many hours in fabrication at Georgia Tech’s Digital Fabrication Lab. Her summers while at Tech consisted of working with Tristan Al-Haddad’s Formations Studio in large-scale architectural sculpture.
Caite has won numerous awards for her creative works in Art and Architecture, including the John William Sandeford Scholarship for Portfolios, Portman Prize Studio Competition Third Prize - Advanced II (2021), Georgia Tech School of Architecture Portfolio Competition First Prize - Core I (2019), D+RI (2021), T. Gordon Little Fellowship at Georgia Tech, and the John P Heins Outstanding Senior Thesis Exhibition Award, Dorothy Dryfoos Olsan '41 Prize in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, The Eduardo Albanell Prize, and the Stokes Entrepreneurial Artist Award during her time at Skidmore.
Today Caite is working with small-firm Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects in West Midtown and is currently an adjunct assistant professor in the School of Architecture. She has also re-discovered her passion for hand-drawings and is working primarily in pencil and colored pencil.
As a young female designer, educator, and artist, Caite strives to inspire creativity and passion for art, architecture, and design. Relying on Caite's background in Studio Art and Applied Mathematics, Caite believes that a firm foundation in both realms can create beautiful, life-changing, uniquely powerful design works that can change the world for the better.
